Objectives

The long-term goal of the Trottier Energy Futures Project is to design and build a low-carbon, sustainable energy future for Canada. TEFP is an agenda-setting project that looks beyond the incremental, relatively narrow focus that characterizes most energy technology and policy research and analysis, toward a broader strategy for transforming Canada’s energy systems. We seek to broaden the community of Canadians engaged in thinking about energy, to explore with those stakeholders how their activities and behaviour shape the demand for fuels and electricity, and to change their behaviour so that they begin to implement a low-carbon, sustainable energy future.

Over the shorter term, TEFP will:

  • Produce research, analysis, and publications to educate and engage Canadians on the topic of a low-carbon, sustainable energy future
  • Engage selected Canadians in a collaborative process, using generative dialogue techniques, with the goal of creating low-carbon energy scenarios for Canada
